About Me

Alana-Rae Saunders completed her Masters of Occupational Therapy at Queen’s University and has been working within the pediatric community for over 10 years as both an Ontario certified teacher and occupational therapist.

​

 She has worked as a direct service provider and consultant across various environments including children’s rehabilitation centers, schools (including preschool and daycare), and home/community.

​

Alana-Rae has provided OT services to children ranging from infancy to 18 years of age with a variety of conditions including ASD, SPD, ADHD, DCD,  fine and gross motor delay, prematurity, and developmental delay. She has worked across Ontario (spanning from Southern and Northern Ontario) as well as New York City.

​

She is registered with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT), the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO), National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and New York State licenced.

​

Alana-Rae brings many years of experience, compassion, patience, enthusiasm, and knowledge to her work with children and values the importance of building rapport with the child and family as well as holistically treating the child. She believes that every child deserves an opportunity to reach their fullest potential with parents/caregivers being an essential part of the therapeutic plan and process.

Little Strides Therapeutic Children’s Services is a private pediatric occupational therapy practice that focuses on helping children achieve their goals by developing foundational and functional life skills.

 

At Little Strides, we provide services within the most natural environments where children can grow, learn and practice their everyday skills. This may be within the comfort and convenience of your home, childcare facility, school, playground, or community.

 

Little Strides is based in Southern Ontario and services the Greater Toronto Area, including parts of the York Region.

Consultation

Our OTs offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to discuss your concerns. Contact Us to learn more about the pediatric OT services we offer.

Assessment / Evaluation

Areas of assessment may include:

  • fine & gross motor

  • school readiness skills

  • sensory processing

  • visual perceptual

  • handwriting

  • organizational/ executive function

  • self-care

  (i.e. dressing, feeding, toileting)

Intervention

1:1 therapy sessions to address your child's individual needs based on mutually agreed upon goals and objectives.

Pediatric occupational therapists use a holistic approach to address concerns with physical, psychological and social aspects of a child as well as consider the environmental factors that impact their function.

 

Occupational therapists treat children with various needs. They can help to improve cognitive, physical, sensory, and motor skills, as well as foster independence and enhance self-esteem.
